This perspective emphasizes how relationships and interactions within the family influence individual behaviors and emotional well-being, rather than attributing problems solely to individual factors. Informed by contemporary attachment theory and a strong belief in the inherent capacity for growth and healing within individuals and their relationships, his approach emphasizes creating a safe and validating therapeutic environment.
He believes that many marital and familial challenges stem from disruptions in attachment bonds and maladaptive interactional patterns developed over time. Therefore, his primary goal in therapy is to help clients identify and understand these underlying patterns, explore their origins, and develop healthier ways of connecting and communicating. Marcus views the therapeutic relationship as a crucial foundation for change, actively working to build trust and empathy with each member of the system.
Marcus' systemic perspective is central to his work. He views individuals not in isolation but as integral parts of a larger relational system. Consequently, therapy often involves working with the entire family unit or the couple to identify and modify patterns of behavior that create problems or conflict. He pays close attention to the roles, rules, and power dynamics within the system, aiming to create a more balanced and harmonious environment where each member feels heard, valued, and understood.

Marcus also serves as lead pastor at Mosaic Church in Freeport, FL. He believes healthy couples create healthy families, and healthy families create healthy communities. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and read good books. He recently discovered his love of cruises and has taken several over the last few years.
