Peter Longoria
LPC-MHSP (Temp), NCC
Peter is passionate about helping people overcome the obstacles in their lives that keep them from experiencing joy and greater flourishing in life. Have you ever felt numb, jaded, or stuck in the same patterns? Do you want to break free from these patterns, grow to understand how they developed in your own unique story, and learn how to create new and lasting ways to live? Peter wants to help you find healing and freedom, whether it be from relational issues, grief, anxiety, experiences of physical, emotional, or sexual trauma, adverse life experiences, loneliness, depression, shame, OCD, compulsive unwanted behaviors, and anything else.
Peter is EMDR trained and practices trauma informed counseling, with a focus on how adverse, stressful, and traumatic moments from your past can make you feel stuck in unwanted behaviors, reactions, and beliefs about yourself, others, and the world. Peter loves to help his clients learn to regulate their emotions, work through negative beliefs, and find safety and connection again.
Often times, people can find themselves in a cycle of trying to fix themselves, and experiencing shame and hopelessness as they struggle to find something that works. From his own experiences, Peter firmly believes that counseling is a positive relationship in which the cycle of shame and trying to fix oneself can be broken. Starting on the journey towards greater healing can be challenging. The uncertainty of what healing looks like is scary, and that is ok. Whether you are wondering if counseling is for you, or if you know you want help but still have questions, don't hesitate to reach out as I would be love to help in any way I can.
Peter was born and raised here in Memphis, TN and has a deep love for all things Memphis, especially BBQ Nachos. He loves being a husband and a father. Peter enjoys a wide variety of things, whether it be exploring a new area or enjoying a good book.
