Hello friends,
We want to share this video as a call to growth in the midst of our changing world.
In this TED talk, Dr. Juliana Mosley challenges viewers to consider the importance of cultural humility rather than cultural competency.
Cultural humility requires us to take action when we see and hear power imbalances. We need to fall in love with, care for, and lift up all black, indigenous, and people of color so that they may be treated equally.
Over the past several weeks, we have found ourselves evaluating and recognizing the hidden biases deep within. This is uncomfortable work. We must come to grips with the racist and unjust systems that we have been silently living in.
Hope is not lost.
All around the country, we see people coming together to grieve, celebrate, and work, so that those who are oppressed may experience freedom and equality.
In this video, we choose to accept Dr. Mosley's challenge.
We choose learning as a lifelong process.
We choose doing what is necessary to shift and challenge the systems we live in to ensure equality for all.
