Shad Berry
Co-Founder, CEO, executive coach
Shad’s personal healing and growth through counseling made him more aware of how an effective therapist can help hurting and anxious people. He also recognized that there were not enough effective therapists to meet the needs of our community. Along with co-founder Tim Holler, they shared a vision to create a community that offered effective counseling and coaching while multiplying effective counselors and coaches.
In October of 2014, Shad and Tim officially launched Kardia Collective to help people “live with courage, hope, and freedom.”
In conjunction with his work at Kardia Collective, Shad currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of a local non-profit. He spent the first 11 years of his professional career in his family’s 40-year old communications firm, Memphis Communications Corporation. Shad served as a Vice President after spending several years as a Sales Professional and Sales Manager with the company until 2011.
In 2020, Shad co-authored the book Next Level Leadership – Navigating the Dramatic Changes Coming in the 2020s along with Ken Edmundson and Jim Sagar. The book identifies and explains the force multipliers of what the world is feeling today, shares more about the dramatic changes coming our way, and most importantly, explains how the previous roadmaps for leadership training have been exposed, and how mid-market company leaders will need to think and act to succeed in the 2020s and into the next decade.
Shad also teaches the Next Level Leadership Training program, which is designed to train and transform high potential executives by providing them specific business and leadership insights, tools, knowledge, and the necessary emotional and relational intelligence to get results and enjoy their work.
As a leader and entrepreneur in both for-profit and non-profit sectors, Shad appreciates the unique relational and emotional challenges that leaders face at every level. He is also personally familiar with the cost of trying to balance work, faith, and family at the expense of emotional health and relational depth.
Shad’s energy and passion for life influences all that he does, including his work consulting with individual clients. In his own life, discipleship and authentic relationship have been rich sources of growth and healing. As a Kardia Coach, Shad seeks to help others grow their emotional intelligence to lead a more integrated and grounded life not ruled by anxiety, people-pleasing, image management, and shame.
Shad and his wife Veronica have four children: Ainslee, Abbie, Jack, and Ann Claire and live in Germantown. As a family, the Berrys love to share fun, music, adventure, and food together. They can be found playing at Shelby Farms or checking out the latest Memphis restaurant!
