Shannon Gallatin

lENS NEUROFEEDBACK TECHNICIAN

Not many sixteen-year-olds want a subscription to Psychology Today on their birthday, but Shannon did. She had a desire to help people from the time she was young, but her childhood and personal brokenness resulted in addictions and self-destructive behaviors instead. After being kicked out of several schools, losing relationships, adding pain to her family and nearly ending her own life, the pendulum of bitter consequences swung her heart in the opposite direction where she found an open-armed Savior waiting for her surrender.

Shannon graduated from college with national academic awards, had her psychology research published and presented in Chicago, and was offered a position as a certified substance abuse and addictions counselor in the state of Florida. Her proclivity towards children and work with juvenile delinquents opened a door for her later to be hired as a county-wide school social worker and crisis counselor in Polk County.

After some time and a move to Upstate New York, she felt the call to step away from her counseling career and follow the path of ministry; choosing to go back to Bible College rather than pursue her doctorate degree. She was hired full time to fill multiple roles within her local church, which would eventually launch her on to the mission field, living in a small village in Croatia. It was at a missions conference in Austria that she met her husband.

For almost 25 years, she served alongside her pastor husband as a women’s ministry administrator and advocate on a board for other area senior pastor’s wives. She taught regular Bible studies, spoke at women’s retreats and conferences, and led support groups for women who were struggling from backgrounds of abuse, as well as offered counseling help within her own church.

Shannon’s husband tragically passed away in 2024, which resulted in her and her daughter moving to Memphis to be closer to family. Due to a number of circumstances, rather than going back to counseling, Shannon pursued a study of the brain. She pursued neuroscience and obtained her certification in LENS neurofeedback. She has not only watched this special form of therapy help others but experienced the benefits herself in dealing with PTSD, sleep issues, chronic pain, and a stuck central nervous system. She is very excited to offer this additional modality to others, knowing that the benefits and rewards can be life changing for those whose physiology responds to it.

One thing she loves to do, now that sports are no longer an option, is to take her camera and spontaneously explore. She’s been known to pull her car over at the worst times and most inconvenient places, just to get a picture of something that caught her eye.
